Summary: This poll is part of a continuing series of monthly surveys that solicit public opinion on the presidency and on a range of other political and social issues. Respondents were asked to identify the most important problem facing the United States and to comment on whether they approved of Bill Clinton's handling of his job as president, the nation's economy, foreign affairs, crime, the situation in Somalia, and the situation in Haiti. Other questions addressed issues such as health insurance and Clinton's health care plan. They were also asked whether the Democrats or the Republicans were doing a better job coping with the main problems the nation faces and whether First Lady Hillary Clinton had too much influence over Bill Clinton.
