- Summary
- Currently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has nine different HIV/AIDS measures in use across the following four programs: The Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), the Physician Value-Based Payment Modifier, the Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program, and the initial core set of health care quality measures for Medicaid-eligible adults. CMS will implement one (Retention in HIV Medical Care) of the seven HIV/AIDS core indicators developed by the HIV/AIDS Indicators Implementation Group (HAIIG) across each program. The CMS is committed to streamlining data collection and reducing reporting burden. Already, CMS has initiated steps to align its quality programs, and will continue to do so as the programs are fully implemented. As each of these quality improvement efforts is implemented, CMS will continue to monitor progress and look for more opportunities to reduce burden and to streamline data collection. The CMS is committed to ensuring better health and better health care for its beneficiaries. CMS is working to align these programs with HHS priorities and quality improvement programs in an effort to reduce burden on providers, and eliminate duplication of effort. This proposed plan to implement the HHS core HIV I AIDS indicators aligns with current measurement efforts underway at CMS
